Located approximately 5 miles south of the intersection of Nebraska Highway 27 and County Road 603 near Ainsworth, Nebraska, Bluestem State Recreation Area is a sprawling 767-acre park within the U.S. state of Nebraska's recreation area system. Established in 196 (establishment year subject to change) and managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, the park's name 'Bluestem' is in honor of the beautiful grasses that abound on the upland areas surrounding the area.
